Abstract
In a context of reforms undertaken since the early 2000s to make individuals more responsible for their career paths, new individual rights have been granted to employees, supposedly to enable them to make more autonomous use of training. However, in connection with the notion of appetency and using data from the DEFIS system, this study examines the leverage effect of the aspiration to train on access to training, among employees in unskilled jobs. Our analytical models reveal that aspiration has a significant effect in unlocking the process of action in training for all employees. When this effect is crossed with organizational levers such as professional interviews and access to information, access to training is further reinforced. However, despite the positive effect of the combination of these factors, inequalities between employees in skilled and unskilled jobs persist and remain significant.
