Abstract

This chapter provides an interdisciplinary overview of the notion of roads, with a particular focus on cultural roads and cultural itineraries. The notion of roads is characterized by a rich cultural, historical, and disciplinary diversity. This chapter’s aim is to set the fact that the notion of roads is not self-evident, and propose further critical engagement with this notion through philosophy, history, geography, literature, social sciences, and information sciences.
