Abstract
This document is a research report on the legal protection of the brown bear (ursus arctos) in the Pyrenean massif under the Habitats directive. It has been part of the Claws & Laws research project undertaken by the Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Its main outcome is to underline that under EU law, France has the obligation to introduce brown bears in the Pyrenean massif.
