In this context, it is not uncommon that the presence of some remaining animal species in cities causes problems to urban citizens and results in conflicts among stakeholders. Here, we propose a novel vision of the relations between urban citizens, local authorities and urban nature, taking the example of urban pigeons. We combined ecological and sociological concepts as well as data to propose a new working framework to build an integrative governance of urban nature. We showed how effective it is to change the focus on elements of nature only by including the interrelations between humans and nature. We highlighted the importance of institutional messages when dealing with biodiversity issues. We conclude by calling for a holistic vision in the implementation of policy on urban nature. date: 2018-12 date_type: published publisher: EDP-sciences id_number: 10.1051/nss/2018051 official_url: http://tse-fr.eu/pub/33040 faculty: tse divisions: tse keywords: city keywords: ville keywords: governance keywords: gouvernance keywords: urban pigeons keywords: pigeon urbain keywords: socioecological systems keywords: systèmes socioécologiques keywords: public policies keywords: politiques publiques language: en has_fulltext: FALSE doi: 10.1051/nss/2018051 view_date_year: 2018 full_text_status: none publication: Natures Sciences Sociétés volume: 26 number: 3 pagerange: 280-290 refereed: TRUE issn: 1765-2979 oai_identifier: oai:tse-fr.eu:33040 harvester_local_overwrite: date harvester_local_overwrite: issn harvester_local_overwrite: faculty harvester_local_overwrite: publisher harvester_local_overwrite: id_number harvester_local_overwrite: doi harvester_local_overwrite: creators_idrefppn oai_lastmod: 2019-05-20T11:53:29Z oai_set: tse site: ut1 citation: Skandrani, Zina , Desquilbet, Marion and Prévot, Anne-Caroline (2018) A renewed framework for urban biodiversity governance: urban pigeons as a case-study.
