Our data come from large-scale and representative surveys of irrigated broadacre and horticultural farms in the Murray–Darling Basin over a 6-year period. The marginal contribution of irrigation water to profit is estimated at $547 and $61/ML on average in horticulture and broadacre, respectively. Horticultural irrigators are found to be averse to the risk of large losses (downside risk) while broadacre irrigators are averse to the variability (variance) of profit. date: 2016-07 date_type: published publisher: Blackwell id_number: 10.1111/1467-8489.12134 official_url: http://tse-fr.eu/pub/29955 faculty: tse divisions: tse language: en has_fulltext: FALSE doi: 10.1111/1467-8489.12134 view_date_year: 2016 full_text_status: none publication: Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics volume: 60 number: 3 pagerange: 442-458 refereed: TRUE issn: 1364-985X oai_identifier: oai:tse-fr.eu:29955 harvester_local_overwrite: oai_set harvester_local_overwrite: date_type harvester_local_overwrite: language harvester_local_overwrite: date harvester_local_overwrite: issn harvester_local_overwrite: faculty harvester_local_overwrite: abstract harvester_local_overwrite: publisher harvester_local_overwrite: creators_affiliation harvester_local_overwrite: id_number harvester_local_overwrite: doi harvester_local_overwrite: creators_idrefppn oai_lastmod: 2024-04-17T08:43:35Z oai_set: tse oai_set: ut1c site: ut1 citation: Nauges, Céline , Wheeler, Sarah Ann and Zuo, Alec (2016) Elicitation of irrigators’ risk preferences from observed behaviour.
